Minneapolis residents make the most of winter and you can too! From a frozen waterfall to pond hockey championships, to the magical Luminary Loppet, there are plenty of activities that make Minneapolis sparkle in winter.

Or warm up at one of Minneapolis's world class art Museums -MIA or Walker Art Center are ready to welcome you in! Mia has almost 90,000 artworks including treasures from six continents, spanning about 20,000 years. The Walker features an outstanding collection modern art and an 11 acre Sculpture garden for alfresco art. 

The Weisman Art Museum Housed in a striking stainless steel and brick building designed by architect Frank Gehry, the Weisman Art Museum offers an educational and friendly museum experience. A teaching museum for the University of Minnesota and the community, the Weisman provides a fresh, engaging arts experience through an array of programs and a changing schedule of exhibitions.

The Museum of Russian Art is North America’s only museum devoted to exploring the art and culture of Muscovite Russia, the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, its former republics, and post-Soviet Russia.  TMORA presents six or more exhibitions each year, with items from its permanent collection of over 5,000 works and Russian art from major collections in the U.S. and abroad. 

Explore Street art! The Lyn Lake area has some of the best public art around. Stroll the streets and stop for coffee, waffles or snacks along the way. Lyn Lake Street art.

Any time of year is always a good time to visit Paisley Park!

Outdoors: 
Bundle up for amazing photos of Minnehaha Falls frozen in mid fall. 

The Luminary Loppet is always a winter highlight - thousands of twinkling candles illuminate Lake of the Isles where visitors can cross country ski or walk the trails. 

Reclaim your inner child with snowtubing at Theodore Wirth park, or cross country ski their lighted and groomed trails. You can rent skis at the park, or through Hoigaards and REI if you prefer to ski the city lakes. 

Winter Fest: Enjoy an afternoon of winter fun featuring skating, carriage rides, ice fishing, music, crafts, face painting, hot cocoa, s'mores, bonfire and so much more! February 8th, 2020 1:00-3:00pm 

Food/Booze:
Support local food vendors and artisans throughout the winter months! The North East Market features music on vinyl by The Ring Toss Twins, prepared foods, local beer and Bloody Mary bar, monthly kids activities and a variety of local vendors. January 19th, February 16th, March 15th & April 19th, 2020 10:00am-2:00pm

The 11th Winter Beer Dabbler returns to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on Feb 22nd 2020. Don't miss the biggest outdoor winter beer festival around!
